After a break due to Covid, ladies from different clubs in the area returned to the courts at Pershore Tennis Centre, all dressed in pink, to support Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven. Together 36 women raised £600 for the local charity in its 6th annual event.
Jane Warner, Tournament Director at Pershore Tennis Centre says: “It was so exciting to be able to return to some form of normality in hosting a tennis tournament, and even better to be raising much needed funds for the charity. We were lucky with the weather, the warm sunny day meant a lot of sun cream was applied as all players stayed outside in their group bubbles. We had some fantastic members who helped on the day, ensuring all players moved around as little as possible. Our tournament referee gave up her time to travel to run the tournament, and club members worked hard to provide a delicious lunch for players and helpers. We are delighted to support the charity and donate £600 to its funds.”
Fiona Charny, our charity Chair of the Trustees added: “Pershore Tennis Centre is now in its 6th year of fundraising for us, and we are very honoured that the club should be so loyal and dedicated to supporting our charity. We know that our work as Worcestershire’s only breast cancer charity resonates considerably with many of their members who have been directly or closely affected by breast cancer, and this is the committee and members continue to support us. Everyone here at Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven is incredibly grateful for funds that the club has raised for us over the past 6 years. The money goes directly to supporting those with breast cancer here in our county.”
